Our Team

Dan Cory

CEO

Dan is an experienced leader with a 25+ year career spanning government service and private sector security. He began as a Royal Marines Commando, serving in Northern Ireland. Later, he joined Scotland Yard’s elite SO19 and SO1 units, playing a key role in national security and counter-terrorism operations. Transitioning to the U.S., he led security at the San Francisco 49ers, building a family office program and earning a DHS Safety Act award at Levi’s Stadium. Dan went on to join a Fortune 500 tech company, rising to Senior Director of Global Security and Resiliency in 2019. He led the company through a global security rebuild and the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, Dan formed Nickel Group, where as CEO, he heads a team of experts building security solutions for clients.

Scott Pugh

COO

Scott is a seasoned leader with over 20 years of experience in the security industry. His background includes military service with three operational tours and expertise in executive protection, cybersecurity, and residential and corporate security across the U.S. and internationally. Before joining Nickel Group, Scott served as a senior executive for a leading security contractor, managing operations for high-net-worth individuals, their families, and Fortune 500 companies, leading a team of hundreds across specialized security roles. He previously served as Vice President of Global Security for a hospitality company with a vast portfolio of destinations worldwide. Scott’s extensive experience makes him a strategic, results-driven leader with a global perspective on protecting people, assets, and reputations. As the COO, Scott leads all daily and strategic operations at Nickel Group.

Steve Donoghue

Director of Operations (UK)

Steve served as a British Royal Marines Commando for 7 years before starting his career in Law Enforcement and Close Protection. During his 26 years with Scotland Yard, Steve held several high-profile and prestigious positions within their Specialist Firearms Command, as both a Personal Protection and Close Protection Officer for senior members of the British royal family. In these positions, Steve worked closely with Ambassadors, High Commissioners, and regional security managers and their teams to facilitate successful national and international visits. At Nickel Group, Steve runs the company’s international division, based out of the United Kingdom, as well as the company-wide Executive Protection and Residential training programs.

James Amann

Director of Operations

James is a former military officer, combat veteran, and highly experienced law enforcement agent, with an extensive career spanning over two decades. James has been the recipient of numerous accolades, including the prestigious Medal of Valor. As a distinguished member of the United States Navy Seals, he undertook operational deployments in a variety of roles, most notably commanding a team of 60 SEAL operators. During his career, he has served a diverse range of clients in the private sector, to include professional sports teams and stadiums, and high-profile individuals in the entertainment, investment, political, and technology industries. James has recently retired from his position as Deputy Sheriff of Los Angeles County and is now Nickel Group’s Director of Operations overseeing all Southern California operations.

Michelle Stewart

Director of Admin & Intelligence

Michelle has extensive experience providing analytical and protective intelligence support to key decision-makers within the security and corporate sectors. Before joining Nickel Group, she built and managed a Global Intelligence Program at a Fortune 500 company. She holds an M.A. in Nonproliferation & Terrorism Studies from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, a B.A. in International Affairs & Political Science from the University of Nevada, Reno, and is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist through ACAMS. At Nickel Group, she runs the Intelligence and Administrative divisions, supporting the unique needs of Nickel Group’s clientele.
